Cooking Traditional Food: Honey Jelly & How To Grow Tomatoes At Home | D...
Part 1: Honey Jam
Material:
- 500g pure honey
- 10g gelatin (or agar-agar if you want a vegan dish)
- 200ml water
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional, which softens the jam and gives it a slight sourness)
- Some sesame seeds or walnuts (optional, to give the jam a crunch)
Guide:
Preparation of gelatin: In a small bowl, dissolve the gelatin in 200ml of water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to allow the gelatin to rise.
Boil honey: Put the honey in a small saucepan and heat over low heat. No need to boil, just warm up so that the honey becomes easier to combine with gelatin.
Combine gelatin and honey: Once the honey is warm, slowly add the gelatin mixture to the pot and stir until the gelatin is completely dissolved in the honey.
Add the lemon juice: If you wish, lemon juice can be added to the mixture and stirred well.
Pour into the mold: Pour the honey mixture into a mold or container with a layer of non-stick paper. If you want to add sesame seeds or walnuts, sprinkle on top of the jam just before letting it cool.
Let the jam freeze: Allow the jam to cool completely at room temperature, then refrigerate it to freeze for at least 4 hours or overnight.
Perfect: Once the jam has hardened, you can cut it into bite-sized pieces and enjoy.
Part 2: How to grow tomatoes at home
Raw Materials & Tools:
- Tomato seeds (choose varieties suitable for the local climate)
- Planting soil (soil with good ventilation and rich in nutrients)
- Planting pot (or you can plant it directly on the ground if you have space)
- Organic Fertilizer
- Water
Guide:
Seed preparation: Start by sowing tomato seeds in seeding trays or small pots. In order for the seeds to germinate, you need to keep the soil moist and place the sowing tray in a warm place.
Seedling care: When the seeds germinate and the seedlings grow to about 10-15 cm, you can transfer them to larger pots or go out into the garden if the weather is already warm. Make sure that the seedlings are well lit for good growth.
Plant plants: Dig holes in pots or garden soil and place seedlings in them. Make sure the plant is planted a little deeper than you sowed to help the plant develop a stronger root system.
Care for mature plants: Water regularly and apply organic fertilizers to tomato plants. Diseased or damaged leaves should be regularly inspected and removed to keep the plant healthy.
Tree Support: The tomato plant needs support so that it does not fall when the fruit begins to ripen. You can use stakes or cages to keep the plant standing.
Harvest: Once the tomatoes have turned red (or depending on the variety), you can harvest. Cut the tomatoes with scissors or a sharp knife to avoid damaging the plant.
