FULL VIDEO 60 days: Making Bánh Chưng, Making Five-Colored Sticky Rice, ...

During the past 60 days, I have had the opportunity to experience the traditional process of making banh chung, making beautiful five-color sticky rice and finally going to the market to sell my finished products. Let's follow this detailed journey!

1. Day 1 - 10: Prepare ingredients

In the first days, I started preparing ingredients for both dishes. For banh chung, I have to choose the best glutinous rice, fine green beans and fresh pork. As for five-color sticky rice, I look for natural leaves to create colors such as brocade leaves, pandan leaves, gac and turmeric.

  • Day 1: Go to the glutinous fields and choose to buy rice.
  • Day 2 - 4: Find and harvest coloring leaves.
  • Day 5 - 7: Soaking rice, preparing mung beans, marinating meat for banh chung.
  • Day 8 - 10: Coloring test for five-color sticky rice.

2. Day 11 - 30: Making Banh Chung and Five-color sticky rice

Entering the main stage of the process, I started making banh chung and five-color sticky rice. This process requires ingenuity and patience.

  • Day 11 - 15: Banh chung wrapping. Learn how to wrap the cake so that it is square and even.
  • Day 16 - 18: Boil the cake. You have to watch the fire and boil for many hours to cook evenly.
  • Day 19 - 25: Start making five-color sticky rice. Each color of sticky rice must be cooked separately, keeping the color natural and beautiful.
  • Day 26 - 30: Complete the first batches of banh chung and sticky rice.

3. Day 31 - 45: Improve and increase production

After completing the first batches, I started to adjust to improve the quality of banh chung and sticky rice.

  • Day 31 - 35: Find a way to wrap the cake tighter and more beautiful.
  • Day 36 - 40: Add other colors to the five-color sticky rice.
  • Day 41 - 45: Increase production, make more chung cakes and sticky rice to prepare to go to the market to sell.

4. Day 46 - 60: Go to the market to sell goods

The last part of the journey is to bring banh chung and five-color sticky rice to the market to sell. This is a very interesting experience when I get to interact with buyers, share stories about the process of making banh chung and five-color sticky rice.

  • Day 46 - 50: Pack and prepare to take the goods to the market.
  • Day 51 - 60: Go to the market to sell. Learn how to communicate with customers, look for people who love traditional flavors.

Conclusion

After 60 days, I have learned a lot about how to make banh chung and five-color sticky rice. This is not only the process of creating traditional dishes but also an opportunity for me to connect with culture and people through going to the market and selling my own products.
